The Best Christmas Ever

As we said our goodbyes to our kids in Utah, they each mentioned this had been their best Christmas ever.

I've been thinking about that. It was one of the best Christmases for me, too, even though Santa didn't come to our house this year. There were no stockings full of goodies for the kids in the family room, and there weren't many gifts under the tree.

Christmas this year was a feeling; it was never about the presents. It was a warm, yummy feeling full of comfort and joy that didn't come wrapped in a box with a bow. There was a lot of love and laughter as we exchanged our token gifts, enjoyed a yummy dinner, and decided to make the most of our beautiful White Christmas.

Chuck was adorable, trying to muster up some enthusiasm for our hasty decision to play in the snow, saying he was working hard at being spontaneous. He was a trouper, donning borrowed clothes from Dylan so he could keep warm enough to enjoy the wintry weather. We were all so grateful he brought his camera to the sledding hill that afternoon, capturing the essence of the best Christmas ever.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I will save myself the effort of writing any more, and share Chuck's gorgeous photography. We are all so grateful for his gift to us of capturing our memories of our best Christmas ever, to enjoy for the rest of our lives.
