Finding Connection in Yoga

"Yoga is really the art of waking up. Getting back to the true you. It can be that simple. Yoga offers up a way for us to see a world that is working for you instead of against you.  Yoga reminds me that everything is connected so we must live, act, dance, breathe with awareness. If the journey really is the reward, then by golly I choose to enJOY the journey. I hope you will join me." -Adriene (Yoga Revolution)

This morning, I got on my yoga mat for the sixth day in a row. Yeah, I'm behind a day in the 31 day Yoga Revolution program, but I needed January 1st to rest from traveling all night New Year's Eve. The old me would have been disappointed in myself for not doing Day One on the first day, but the new, older me knows I have to listen to my body, and take care of myself first.

I feel great. Not "better than you do" great; just happy, and rested, and like I'm doing this because I want to do it. There is no guilt motivating my yoga time. It actually feels  a little indulgent.

It is fun to think how many people are connected through yoga practice. Some of my friends joined the Yoga Revolution with me, and that encourages me. If you would like to sign up (it's never too late to give it a try), check out this link HERE. Connect with friends, connect with your mat, connect with the earth; everything is connected.

P.S.
In case you're wondering, I lost a little more weight over Christmas, and I gained a little weight over the New Year's Eve weekend, but I've managed to maintain the eight pound loss. I'm full of hope, and pray that as I make deeper connections with God, my family and friends, and find more connections through yoga, and service, and my reading, that I will continue my healthier habits this year.
