Introducing Sir Chewsalot

Don't they look innocent; these two? Soulful eyes, calm countenances, sweet faces.

Well, looks are deceiving. They are apparently on a mission to mark everything in our house with tooth marks, if they don't destroy each item in the process.

When I showed Chuck the recent carnage committed by Bristol, he said we are lucky they are showing us the places that are not safe for storing things.

Since Bristol has learned how to push his way through our makeshift barricade to the upstairs, we have to be vigilant about closing all of the doors, or he finds whatever he can to take downstairs to begin his destruction process. Until we started closing the doors, he had selected Chuck's sandals, a couple of t-shirts, and a pair of slippers.

When I washed my walking shoes last week, I found a safe place for them; outside, on the deck, up in a tree. There are only so many things we can store outside, on the deck, up in a tree, though.

Bristol is the master of disaster, more so than Sami. Sam is more into chewing paper products like receipts, napkins, paper towels, and used tissues. Bristol goes for the good stuff.

In the last few days, he managed to chew through my iPhone charging cable. He destroyed two socks; a red one and a purple one, but the clincher was my sandals; my favorite hiking sandals.

You remember we have totes and boxes all over the house to keep puppies off of furniture and out of certain areas? Well, I thought I would be safe by putting my BRAND-NEW Merrell sandals on top of a large tote box that is on the couch for discouraging puppy occupation. I was so wrong.

While I was in the kitchen, I noticed things were very quiet in the living room. Too quiet, which is never a good thing with two puppies in the house. When I peeked in on Bristol and Sam, this is what I discovered:

While I was texting Chuck about Bristol's latest conquest, Bristol decided he would entertain himself with something else. How about my favorite sweatshirt?

These guys are keeping me on my toes. I'm going to have to go through the house on my hands and knees to see what temptations are available to them at their eye level. And then I'm going to have to go through it again to see what smart puppies who know how to jump and climb could reach if they were motivated enough.

I've got my work cut out for me, don't I?

  1. Oh my! It looks like the pups are hitting full blown adolescence. Good plan to further puppy proof the house! It may also be time to ditch the food bowl and have them work for their food. Puzzle toys, snuffle mat, find it games where you scatter their food in the grass, food dispensing balls etc. There is even some thing called a manners minder that allows you to dispense food using a remote control to reinforce their "relaxing on mat" behavior. Anything to keep their minds and mouths busy!
Good luck-this too shall pass ...good thing they are cute!
